Commonwealth Games 2014
Achanta wins silver in doubles, Quadri bronze in team competition

04.08.2014 Last weekend, the table tennis events came to an end at the 20th Commonwealth Games that took place in Glasgow, Scotland, this year. The two international JOOLA stars Kamal Achanta (India) and Aruna Quadri (Nigeria) succeeded in winning a mdeal and could therefore celebrate another major achievement.

Nigeria's top player, Aruna Quadri, lead his team into the semi-finals in the team compition without any problems. There, they had to submit to defeat by the superior players from Singapore, who won 6 from 7 gold medals. In the match for third place the two teams with our top players, India and Nigeria, met. In a high-class match the team from Africa, also equipped by JOOLA, managed a well-deserved 3rd place.

However, Kamal Achanta managed to stand on the podium in the doubles where he played brilliantly together with Amalraj Anthony Arputharaj. The way into the semi-finals was almost trouble-free and the Federal League player from Düsseldorf caused a sensation by beating the top doubles pairing from Singapore 3:0. In the final they were able to even dream of more after winning the first set. However, in the end they could not repeat the success of the semi-finals and had to congratulate the doubles pairing from Singapore.

JOOLA congratulates all it's partners on the excellent achievements!
